A slogan that perfectly represents Artegaia, a delightful chalet at San Martino alla Palma, just above Scandicci and only a few minutes away from Ginestra Fiorentina in the Florentine hills. You can admire a magnificent view over the countryside and splendid sunsets from the restaurant’s terrace, while, in the evenings, you will feel you are dining surrounded by the stars. Artegaia is not simply a natural environment, with a beautiful garden and pergola designed by architect Gianni Medoro and carefully tended by professional gardener Alberto Magherini, but it is also quality Mediterranean cuisine.
The chef Alessio Morelli has a long experience of working in Florentine venues, including the Artegaia restaurants, when it was in Via Faentina. His type of cuisine is natural, light and well presented and the dishes vary between meat, fish and vegetarian.
We should at once mention the Artegaia Meat and Seafood Tasting on the menu, the vegetable flan of the season with a mousse of robiola, the double seafood tartare, which varies according to the catch. First courses include Sicilian style paccheri pasta, the chef's special of tagliolini pasta with squid ink, cuttlefish, mussels and lime or a crispy baked rice pie with saffron and fillets of rabbit. Second courses boast the Artegaia’s grilled octopus, another of the chef's specialities, or fillet of sea bass with Mediterranean vegetables, Florentine steak with roast potatoes and beans or the aubergine and smoked scamorza mille-feuille. The house desserts change every day.
