To eat admiring a renaissance fresco certainly does not happen every day. Yet it would be enough to go for dinner to the Braceria Bisteccheria Ristorante Santa Maria Novella, elegant space about 500 meters from the Church of Santa Maria Novella. We are in a historical palace whose interior is finely decorated, with frescos in every hall. The atmosphere is surely one of the strong points of this Restaurant, with softly playing music and candles on every table during the dinners.
But what is really striking is the quality of the meat, the real specialty of the place. The steaks proposed are of five different kinds of beef: Razza Chianina, Razza Scottona, Razza Marchigiana, Razza Romagnola and Fassona Piemontese. They are cooked on burning embers which are continuously stoked for a slow and constant cooking of the meat.
Even the non meat lovers though have a variety of choices. The cooking draws its inspiration from the tuscan tradition as one can see by the kinds of fresh pasta dishes served, like the pappardelle, the tortelli mugellani or the pici senesi. To begin we recommend the platter of Salumi di Scarpaccia and mixed tuscan pecorino cheeses with truffle honey and jams or the Warm mixed Seafood, followed by Tortelli Mugellani with tuscan ragù or Spaghetti alla chitarra with clams and bottarga, in alternative to the Florentine Steak we propose Sliced Chianina beef with porcini or the Sea Bass all'isolana.
But there is another reason for choosing this Restaurant, and it is the rich wine list they dispose of. The place infact boasts a little underground cellar, in which it is even possible to do a wine tasting of the best tuscan wine estates and local products. To recommend to all friends and relatives who when they arrive in Florence have a desire to eat the real Florentine Steak. Thanks to the large amount of space available, it is particularly given to host groups of a certain regard, congress goers and incentives.
