The flavors of Naples in the dishes of new “Maruzzè” restaurant created by Carmine and Patrizia in Piazza Edison
Carmine is a character of the Florentine restaurant, one of the first communicators of the real Neapolitan pizza in the city, an art that he learned already from the age of ten in the best Neapolitan pizzerias, and imported in 92 in the pizzeria "Carmine Il pizzaiolo" which he built Vico del Carmine in San Frediano in Sant'Ambrogio, experience he spent years ago, where he moved with his family. Then, there is been a short parenthesis accompanying the tradition of his Neapolitan pizza at the "A’ Puteca" pizza restaurant with his daughter Susy and son-in-law Paolo Ciullo.
Today this new experience of "Maruzzè" is dedicated exclusively to fish dishes with products exclusively from Campania. Carmine and Patrizia in their restaurants have always had a passion for seafood dishes, and today they chose to suspend pizza, for this new gastronomic experience.
His wife Patrizia in the company of Giovanni Gorrese takes care of the kitchen with their recipes based on very fresh fish, the result of the best Neapolitan tradition, but this time also very accurate in the presentations and interesting reinterpretations.
You can open with the salt cod croquettes on the cream of peas and crunchy vegetables, the octopus and friarelli on chickpea puree, the golden and fried anchovies and the clam sauté. Followed by the classic spaghetti with clams, the packages with seared shrimp and chickpeas, the black risotto and burrata stracciatella, the linguine with octopus Gaeta olives. Do not miss the cod with pizzaiola with Gaeta olives and capers, the scallops with sautéed pumpkin and seasonal vegetables, the fried calamari and prawns and the seared tuna with glazed Tropea onion. To sweetly conclude the Neapolitan Pastiera, the Babà with three condiments, ricotta, and pear pistachio and rum, and the inevitable Lemon Delight.
The restaurant is small in size to guarantee quality, so reservations are recommended. The price-quality ratio is excellent with a very interesting average price for fish in Florence.
