Pizzeria Firenze Nova – Napoletan and Seafood Cousine

A temple of flavours from the Campania region and really fresh fish.

Apart from offering real DOC pizzas (among the best in Florence), Michele Di Giacomo and his sisters Carolina and Valentina also offer quality fish dishes at excellent prices, just as one would expect of really good caterers. The fish is delivered daily: every morning a large fish (tuna, sea bass, sword fish) is chosen to be used for the dish of the day, in addition to the traditional menu. Among the starters we advise you to try the hot seafood platter, the tuna and sea bass carpaccio, the extremely delicate baby octopus in ink sauce, the peppered mussels, the stuffed sardines, the fried whitebait or the seafood salad.

The many first courses include cavatelli (pasta) with a seafood sauce, spaghetti with amber fish, risotto with squid ink sauce, beautifully cooked spaghetti in clam sauce (without tomato), linguine (flat spaghetti) baked in foil, maltagliati (pasta) with lobster and the fish soup of the day. Do not miss trying second courses like the mixed fry, tender oven-cooked octopus (a real speciality), oven-baked sea bass and bream or the mixed fish grills with various types of squid.

There is also an extensive menu of meat dishes recalling many of the lost and rarely found flavours of the past for people who do not care for fish.

The desserts are definitely not to be missed and include the famous homemade Neapolitan cheese tart. The service is both friendly and professional.

It is essential to book in advance, as the restaurant is very popular.
