This typical Tuscan trattoria, one of the oldest in Florence, was founded in 1931 and taken over in 1971 by grandfather Enzo who, in time, managed to hand down his enthusiasm for catering to his son Massimo, who in his turn is passing it on to his children, Chef Aldo and Francesca who oversees the dining room.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

Situated right in the old city centre and only a short distance away from the congress centre and the station, this restaurant is perfect for business lunches. The food, based on good home cooking, and the cordial and friendly welcome offered by owners, ensure that the venue boasts a large clientele composed of Florentines, tourists and, given its position, many congress participants and exhibitors. Aldo gives his wonderful traditional Tuscan platters a long slow cooking according to the methods of the past.<\/p>\r\n

Start off with an Enzo and Piero hors doeuvre or a mixed dish of sliced dressed Sienese belted pork. As for the first courses, we advise you to taste the soups that include the ribollita (vegetable bread soup), spelt soup, pappa al pomodoro (tomato bread soup), or some of the fresh pasta dishes like tortellacci with ricotta and spinach, truffle-flavoured taglierini, Mugello-style potato-stuffed tortelli or pappardelle with duck sauce.<\/p>\r\n

These are followed by dishes based on top quality meat: really tender Florentine steaks, sliced steaks, fillets of steak and the Enzo and Piero mixed meat and vegetable grill, or else chicken chasseur or Florentine tripe. Fish – cod Florentine style – is served on Fridays. Note that zolfini beans, not easy to find in Tuscan trattorias today, are also on the menu.<\/p>\r\n

Finish in style with typical homemade desserts like Portuguese milk cups, tiramis and cooked cream. The restaurant uses delicious Tuscan milled oil from San Casciano and also boasts a rich wine list, while the three pretty girls coordinated by Francesca provide a very efficient and friendly service.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n
